Hello again, my name is Lucy and I want to give a warm welcome to the new readers who join my travel blog. Today I will tell you about my journey through the beautiful country of Colombia and all the wonderful adventures there. We had great expectations of getting to know Cartagena, recognized worldwide for its beautiful landscapes and beaches that dazzle residents and tourists, in addition to opening a great window to boost the local economy.
I loved its historic center, the beautiful bay surrounded by huge buildings, the architecture and the most important thing was the warmth of its wonderful people who received us with open arms and gave us the warmest welcome as one of the family. I was able to observe how my assigned guide on this tour took out his drone and began to film the best shots of Cartagena, its sunsets and coasts. I didn’t know he had a drone, but the idea seemed great to me because we would have videos and not just photos to remember.
While Jairo was concentrating with his drone, a group of boys who were practicing dance approached us and asked us to record them, noticing that it was not Colombian gave them greater emotion because the cultural manifestations that they practice would transcend borders.

Bomba Beach Cartagena is a beach club located on Tierra Bomba Island, right in front of the Castillo Grande beaches. To get there Bomba Beach Cartagena Jairo my guide took me to take a boat on the shore of Castillogrande beach, this boat is private and took me directly to the beach club, I already had my reservation ready to spend the weekend in this place.

Upon arrival I went straight to the beach to enjoy from my pergola reserved in my name, after a while I decided to take a tour of the island on JetSky, the beach is very quiet and the landscape totally beautiful. I decided to choose this place because of its proximity to the beach, because of the tranquility that I would feel when I got there, and because of its exquisite food. The chef at the Beach Club knew what he was doing and how he would wow his diners.
I ordered fish, rice, salad and panela water, a very typical combination of this country. The chef approached me, welcomed me and described the elements that made up this delicious dish.

The drink was delicious, I ordered the full pitcher because I couldn’t resist it, it’s addictive. After this, the chef presented me with dessert, a quite delicious Colombian merengón that I provided for a double portion.

I got up from the table for a moment and went to the bathroom, I really wanted to urinate because of the drink I had. Upon entering the bathroom everything was very clean, tidy and as if nobody used it, everything looked intact and I was glad to know that I could be there and enjoy the space that the place offered me. Towels, soap, hair dryer and paper were not lacking in that area of the Beach Club.
After this I went to walk around the place, it looked pretty good and it was very tropical. I walked along the beach, contemplating the sea and I was able to join a group of super nice foreigners who invited me to spend a night out with them that they had planned, it turns out that they are a group of students who chose this trip as a graduation prize.

When night came in the main pergola the party lit up, I put on the best beach outfits and went to enjoy myself with the boys, between cumbias, calves and salsa, the night was magical, we drank aguardiente and between dance and dance dawn came . We went to the edge of the beach to see it, this experience was super cool as Colombians say.

Jairo helped me choose this hotel, he described it as paradise, on arrival he offered me what I needed to have a pleasant stay.

Upon arrival I could notice this beautiful luxury hotel with a great view of the Caribbean Sea, it is very close to the castle of San Felipe de Barajas, and also to the Historical Museum of Cartagena de Indias.
I stayed in one of the preferential treatment suites where the benefits include access to all private areas and lounges, benefits include complimentary continental breakfast, snacks and soft drinks in the afternoon. Enjoy personalized service with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea.

Every day he took advantage of eating in a different restaurant just to taste its delicacies and be able to admire all the facilities of this majestic hotel. In the following days I went to the Spa, I asked that they please treat me well and leave me as good as new, after the massage I went to the sauna to sweat a little to try to keep my figure.

After this I was so relaxed that it caused me to go to my room to order room service, while watching some television and then go out to conquer the streets of Cartagena. I quite liked that the wi fi signal was optimal and allowed us to navigate without problems to find tourist destinations of cultural interest for Colombia.
I went to visit the infinity pool and take a delicious dip, when the sun was hotter I sat under the shadows of the palm trees and my dear friends from the hotel brought me a delicious piña colada, while I enjoyed the beautiful views from this fabulous place.
Another thing that I loved about this place is its location, from here I could get to the best tourist sites in Cartagena quite quickly.

Historic Tour of Cartagena

As I already told you, I was very close to these historical places, so I decided to contact Jairo, my guide, so that he could take me to visit these majestic spaces.

It is a fortification located on the outskirts of Cartagena, located on the San Lázaro hill, its real name is Fort San Felipe de Barajas and it was built in 1657 during the Spanish colonial era.
When I got here I was able to observe this old construction. It is impressive. Legend has it that the stone blocks were glued together with masonry and ox blood, and there are even myths that also mention the blood of black slaves.

The construction of these walls was not carried out perpendicular to the ground as is usual in the vast majority of fortifications, but inclined inwards so that the enemy cannonballs caused less damage. The castle also has gullies that were created in order to trap any intruder trying to scale the walls. Likewise, it has a labyrinthine system of underground tunnels through which the troops could move without being seen by the enemies, in addition to being used to carry out ambushes when the enemy managed to sneak into them.

The tunnel system is designed in such a way that it was a death trap for the enemies. It is worth hiring a guided tour as it becomes much more enjoyable. In addition to telling you about the castle and its battles, the guide explains many things about the history of the city and its traditions.

Arriving here allowed me to discover that Cartagena offers much more than its beautiful Caribbean beaches, this part of Colombia preserves an interesting history that has been recognized worldwide.
In this sense, the Clock Tower has been recognized by the BBC as one of the most beautiful «Clock Towers» in the world with a baroque stone facade that makes it seem stopped in time.
Here I did not miss the opportunity to take photos and contemplate in detail every inch of the beautiful work that was before my eyes.
I was able to walk inside the tower and everything looked impeccably preserved, it seemed that time had not wreaked havoc on everything that was there. What a beautiful place, a place that gives tourists another perspective on Colombia.
Arriving here allowed me to discover that Cartagena offers much more than its beautiful Caribbean beaches, this part of Colombia preserves an interesting history that has been recognized worldwide.

How nice it was to get here, I was dazzled by the beauty of this impressive site. Its name derives from the fact that at the end of the 20th century it was used as a parking lot for floats. Nowadays, wooden balconies and stairs, horses and carriages, all taken from a fairy tale, turn the place into something that seems to be taken from a time capsule to offer us a great trip to the past.
I ran to get on a float, I felt like a character from that time while the old car walked through the streets of Cartagena. Pigeons were flying around the place and on one occasion the driver stopped and gave me a rose that they sold in the streets, it was fresh, full of life and with an indescribable aroma.

It is a museum dedicated to pre-Columbian relics, with more than 600 gold, silver, and ceramic pieces on display. The entire exhibition left me enchanted, a great exhibition of gold and bones that rest here as part of the historical legacy of Colombia. Although it has an incalculable monetary value, it is considered that its true value transcends beyond the economic and is located in the historical.
The Zenú Gold Museum in Cartagena is part of the network of the Gold Museum of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia. It preserves and exhibits the goldsmith and ceramic works of the ancient Zenúes, who through colossal works of hydraulic engineering lived two millennia ago in the plains of the Colombian Caribbean, and highlights the culture and traditions of the current Zenúes. The pieces that rest here have an incalculable value

After my weekend on Isla Bomba and the fun party I enjoyed with the group of students, I was left with that abortion of aguardiente and the desire to dance cumbias and the whale-boys and I couldn’t let the nights go by, Cartagena is famous for its nightlife and then I contacted the guys again to spend some good nights out before leaving Cartagena.

Arriving here was total madness, the place was packed and the night promised something good. It is important to note that on this site they hold high-profile events, so that night the singer Karol G and Daddy Yankee performed.
Due to the target of the singers, the tickets had a somewhat high cost, but it was worth it because I sang all the songs of both artists, I am a fan of reggaeton.
I sang A Ella, Gasolina y la Mixadora, the adrenaline was felt in the arena and I didn’t miss the opportunity to pay a security to allow me to see them in the dressing room together with my group of friends and that’s how it happened.

We screamed like crazy when we saw them face to face, sweaty and with a big smile, we took photos, they signed our shirts, we recorded videos and they even gave us a record. We loved this magical and unrepeatable experience, with these guys full of energy everything is fun.

Upon arrival at this place we order a few drinks and toast to this wonderful moment, the good energy of this place is indescribable.
The musical atmosphere was harmonious, you could dance, talk, sit outside, in short, it was worth visiting. We danced salsa and merengue, they taught me some very good steps.
The boys and I enjoyed a good plate of fried plantains, beer and desserts, being in this place was a very good experience because they treated us like royalty.
To then dance and enjoy all night the best presentation by an international DJ’s who met at this place, and we enjoyed everything in the best possible way. A fresh, pleasant place and they make you want to be there to spend a very pleasant moment.

The beautiful Colombia cradles Cartagena, an invaluable earthly treasure that goes beyond its beaches and coasts, its historical and cultural wealth transcends borders and regardless of the political overtones, I really recommend you visit them. Each place was magical, each person smiled at us with their heart and soul, they were there with their hands outstretched for us and we felt that way. Moments that will remain engraved in our minds and hearts.
